Wimborne Food Bank update

We have been busy providing emergency food parcels & we have just started supplying people who have just been housed & who have nothing with a home starter kit which contains lots of kitchen essentials. This year we have already put in grants of nearly £2000 for a variety of clothing & household appliances / essentials for the people we are working with.

Easter - Next week we will be preparing for Easter where we are hoping to be able to give the families that we are working with support with Easter food, treats & an Easter Egg to every adult & child in the run up to the Easter weekend. We will be providing Easter School Holiday food parcels to parents who need additional help during the school holidays & the Knitter Natter Club are kindly donating some very cute, knitted sheep! Acts4Sharing - We refer lots of the people we work with to Acts4Sharing as they can provide them with furniture, furnishings, appliances & household essentials (depending on what donations they have had). They have a warehouse in Ringwood & they have a network of referral partners such as ourselves who refer people to them. They collect all the items I listed above free of charge within a 25-mile radius of Ringwood & distribute them locally to people in need. If you ever know anyone having a house clearance or who has furniture that they do not wish to sell then it is worth looking them up. They have a website & Facebook page with more information. Here is the link to their website - Acts 4 Sharing

Waitrose - We are doing a donation drive a Waitrose Wimborne next week from Monday - Saturday 9-1pm as our stocks are low after a busy Christmas. It is a great opportunity to connect with the community, share information about the many services that we provide & update our supporters on the items we really need help with. If you are passing, we would love it if you came over & said hello!

Fortnum & Mason Hamper - We are raffling off a beautiful Fortnum & Mason Hamper that has been very kindly donated to us. It contains -
Bottle of Red Wine (Claret), 2 Wine Glasses, Box of Marc de Champagne Truffles, Pistachio & Clotted Cream Biscuits, Lemon Curd Biscuits, Cheese Sables with Rosemary & Thyme, Ground Coffee, Black Christmas Loose Leaf Tea, Royal Blend Tea Bags, Jar of Piccalilli, Fig & Fennel Chutney & some Strawberry Preserve. The draw will take place in the middle of April, tickets are £1 each / £5 for a strip & we will use the funds raised to buy much needed stock. If you would like to buy any raffle tickets, please email me, we can arrange it in person at the food bank or we will be selling tickets at our Waitrose stand next week from 9-1pm Monday - Saturday or you can transfer the money directly to the food bank (ref raffle) & I can write out your tickets & send you a photo of the ticket numbers. It is a stunning hamper!

Rick Stein's Coffee Morning - Rick Stein Sandbank's are kindly hosting a coffee morning for us on Tuesday 2nd June from 10-11.30am to help us raise funds towards our annual family fun event on Saturday 25th July. Tickets are £10 & this includes pastries, cakes, tea & coffee, 100% of the proceeds will come to the food bank.  Any help to support this fabulous event in such a beautiful setting would be very much appreciated, if you would like to buy some tickets then please let me know 🍰🫖

Thank you for your continued support & help with food donations & initiatives. We cannot thank you enough for your help & it makes a huge difference to the people that we are working with. Here is some feedback that we received recently -

'When I moved to Wimborne I had nothing and knew no one, I went to Citizens Advice who directed me to the food bank. I was made to feel welcome straight away, I couldn’t get over how much food they gave me but also all the other advice and support I was given. I had a grant for a cooker and a washing machine and was given information where to go for other food and support. I’ve been to the community fridge and have started to make friends with other local people'

If you would like to have a tour of the food bank or have any questions at all about the services that we provide please email or ring me

Wishing you all a lovely, hopefully sunny & relaxed Easter 🐥🐰

Planning your Visit

Welcome to St John's Church!

We are so delighted that you have found our website. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

We hope to have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Stuart Hull and Nigel Day (Churchwardens)
Please note that we are currently seeking a new Vicar, following the retirement of Revd Peter Breckwoldt in July 2025
