John 11:38-44 (February 28th)
Read John 11:38-44.
Can you imagine yourself there and how you would've felt?
The big question so far in chapter 11: if Jesus loved Lazarus so much, why did he not stop him from dying (v5-6, v21, v32, v36-37)? The answer is that Jesus will show the true glory of God in resurrection, not just healing (v40, and also v4). This is what Jesus has been saying we need to believe since chapter 5 - Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live (John 5:25). Are we more focussed on praying for restoration, or for God’s resurrection power to be at work?

Watch the story
Think: if you were there, what would you think when Jesus said to open the tomb?
How would you have felt when Lazarus came out?
Pray: praise Jesus that he is so awesome
Do: act the story out (wrap someone up in toilet roll, and put them in a cupboard. Then shout, ‘Lazarus come out’ and unwrap them.)
