John 4:43-54 (January 21st)
Read John 4:43-54.
Is there a situation where you need to 'take Jesus at his word' (v50)?
Jesus is welcomed into Galilee because they had seen his miracles, but all is not as positive at it seems. Being amazed at Jesus' wonders is not enough, people need to believe his words (like the Samaritans did). So Jesus does not go with the royal official to heal his child, and he has to take Jesus at his word. Do we only believe when we see answers to our prayers, or do we trust when we can't see?
Family Bible Time
Read: John 4:49-51 (the royal official’s son is ill and about to die)
Think: why did the royal official have to trust Jesus?
Why do we have to trust Jesus today?
Pray: that we would trust Jesus even though we can’t see him
Do: have fun controlling things with just your words (eg. ‘Hey siri, lumos’, ‘ok google, do a barrel roll’)
