John 3:9-15 (January 13th)
Read John 3:9-15
Why do we need to fix our eyes on Jesus?
We cannot know about heavenly things ourselves, but Jesus can, as the one who came for heaven. We also can't bring ourselves to eternal life, only Jesus can, as the one who will be "lifted up". Jesus refers to the story in Number 21:4-9 where the Israelites are facing death (from venomous snakes) because of their disobedience. Moses is told to lift up a bronze snake on a pole, and all who look up to it will live. Jesus is the one lifted up on the cross for our sins, so when we look to him we receive life.

Why is Jesus going to be lifted up?
Pray: thank Jesus for coming from heaven so that we can have eternal life
Do: make a cross (out of paper/sticks…) and put it somewhere to remind you of Jesus today
