Wimborne Food Bank update

Thank you so much for your continued support with food donations & initiatives, we really cannot thank you enough. Here are a few updates for you:

A massive thank you to all our local Churches, Schools and individuals for the wonderful Harvest donations that we have received. They have made a big difference to our stock levels which were quite low.

A Big Thank you to everyone who recently attended our event with the Bournemouth Male Voice Choir, the Methodist Church was packed out, we raised a whopping £1300 and received some great feedback on what a fantastic event it was. Photo below

On Tuesday we held a half term cooking session with the Friendly Food Club where families were making scary stuffed peppers & decorating spider biscuits. It was great to see so many adults and children all having fun and making some delicious creations.

We are still one of Waitrose Wimborne's Community Matter's Charities (middle box) A Big Thank you to everyone for all the green tokens, it does not finish until the end of December so please keep selecting us to give your green tokens to 🤩

Below is a colourful version of our Reverse Advent initiative which we have kicked off recently. Any help with this would be really appreciated and will help us to further support families this Christmas. If possible could any donations be brought in by Friday 28th November or early December as we will be the busiest during the three weeks before Christmas. We would also love any gifts for teenagers or men as these are the two categories we get the least amount of gifts for 🎄🎅

I am busy preparing for Christmas where we will be holding two Santa's Grotto events for the families that we are working with, a volunteer thank you event where our lovely volunteers will wrap all the chocolate selection packs for Santa to give out at the Grotto's, we provide School holiday parcels to pupil premium families, Christmas Hampers / Christmas Bags alongside our food parcels and hopefully we will be able to give a present to every adult and child who come in to the food bank leading up to Christmas.

We just want to say a massive thank you for your help and support with inititiaves, it really does mean a lot to us and to the people we serve. We have provided over 900 emergency food parcels which have helped to feed over 2300 adults and children so far this year.

Here is some feedback that we received recently -

'I was able to get help not only with food but my bills and debt, everyone is so lovely and now greet me like a friend. Coming in has changed my life and I am so glad I took that step through the door'

Planning your Visit

Welcome to St John's Church!

We are so delighted that you have found our website. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

We hope to have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Stuart Hull and Nigel Day (Churchwardens)
Please note that we are currently seeking a new Vicar, following the retirement of Revd Peter Breckwoldt in July 2025
