Lunch Club

The lunch club meet every Tuesday, supported by a team from the probation service who do all the cooking, put out tables and chairs etc. About 36 senior citizens come every week to enjoy lunch and fellowship.

The lunch club team are looking for some willing volunteers for the following roles:

1. A simple paper admin role - no need to attend the lunch club. This is not time heavy.

2. Occasional help with Tesco online food ordering- when the person who does it regularly is away. On rare occasions (bank holidays) we also need to receive the delivery and pack it away in the church kitchen when it is delivered on a Monday evening (the time is flexible to suit you but we find the evening works well). The shopping list is drawn up by the caterer. Are you experienced in doing this? This could be for you.

3. Someone with availability in the school holidays who can come along occasionally on a Tuesday, welcome and lead the giving of thanks for the food, and the saying of the grace at the end. You may also need to welcome and thank a speaker. This might suit someone/a couple who are retired and choosing to go away in off peak times, but here around Easter/Summer/half terms. (We close the club over Christmas). Because you would be the lead person on those occasions you would need to have a DBS safeguarding certificate, or be assessed for one. You do receive a tasty lunch!

If you think any of these roles might suit you do contact Sue Stein on 07841 986916, or email Sue - music@stjohnswimborne.org.uk

Or contact Pippa Rossiter on 07921 774461 or pipparossiter@icloud.com

We will be delighted to chat through any questions you may have, without obligation.

Planning your Visit

Welcome to St John's Church!

We are so delighted that you have found our website. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

We hope to have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Please note that we are currently seeking a new Vicar, following the retirement of Revd Peter Breckwoldt in July 2025
