Wimborne Food Band Newsletter

Thank you so much for your continued help & support, we really appreciate it, it makes a huge difference to each & every family we serve. Here are a few updates for you -

We have been busy providing school holiday parcels over the summer holidays alongside our normal parcels & recently we held a craft session for families we are working with where there were 5 different creative activities for children to complete & then we shared a picnic lunch afterwards. Photo attached.

Sadly, our stock levels are extremely low, we have 1 crate or less of many items, so we are really looking forward to receiving Harvest donations in from the local schools, Churches, organisations, families & individuals to help us through the next few months. I have added our most recent shopping list of items that we need the most. We would be very thankful for any help with these or sharing the list.

We are still part of Tesco Stronger Starts grant scheme (Blue Tokens/ coins) in Tesco Ferndown Superstore, West Moors Express, Glenmoor Road, Bournemouth, Poulner Express & Verwood Ringwood Express until the end of this month (30th September) any help with blue tokens in these stores would be very much appreciated & will help us to receive additional funding for families in crisis this Christmas. Photo attached. Thank you 🩵

We will have a stand at the Green Festival which is on Saturday 11th October where we will be collecting food donations, unwanted bags for life & any unwanted / unopened presents / toiletry gift sets to give to people facing hardship this Christmas. Visual attached. We would love to see you there. You are also welcome to bring any of these items in directly to us if you cannot make the event 💚

I am busy planning a wonderful fundraising event with the Bournemouth Male Voice Choir on Saturday 25th October at Wimborne Methodist Church at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 each. The funds raised at this lovely event will help us to buy much needed stock & go towards our Hampers & presents for families this Christmas who would not otherwise get to enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch / day. Please can you share this event with your organisation, congregation, school, colleagues & friends. There is a visual attached for you to share & here is the link to purchase tickets - Bournemouth Male Voice Choir for Wimborne Foodbank (25-Oct-2025) · ChurchSuite Events

So far this year Wimborne Food Bank has helped to feed over 2000 adults & children, delivered 175 food parcels to people who have no way of getting to the food bank, provided 420 recipe bags which contain the recipe & all the ingredients to make a fresh, healthy sweet or savoury dish, our money advice team hold regular appointments working with people towards the goal of not needing food parcels long term, we are establishing a new financial resilience role which will be working with people to help them with benefits, budgeting & providing money courses & much much more.

If you would like to meet me / visit the food bank sometime or discuss any of the above initiatives, then please feel free to contact me. Thank you all for all your support, we appreciate it so much & we could not do the vital work in the community that we do without it. Thank you.

Kind Regards
Sharon Keenan

Planning your Visit

Welcome from the VicarRevd. Peter Breckwoldt

Let me welcome you to St John’s! I am so delighted you have found our web site. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

I do hope I will have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Revd. Peter Breckwoldt
