Compass Trip to Tyntesfield House - 30th October

Tyntesfield House is an impressive Gothic extravaganza, remodelled by William Gibbs from a simple regency house. It has richly decorated interiors and is furnished by all the leading craftsmen of the 19th century. It has extensive gardens and parkland with large areas to explore: though by the end of October it may not be the biggest draw of the day! There are three areas to visit which are some distance from each other. It has a historic orangery and a working kitchen garden. There is a restaurant at Home Farm and a cafe at the Kitchen garden. It is a hilly site with gravel paths throughout. There are toilet facilities at all three locations.

The car park is at Home farm where there is a cafe and toilets, a shop and other attractions but  but it is also a kilometre walk to the house. There is a mobility shuttle available which calls at Home Farm, the House and the Kitchen Gardens. There are bus stops at the locations so it may mean a time of waiting.

The bus will leave  Allenview Coach Park at 8.45 on Thursday 30 October, and with a comfort stop at Warminster Services we will arrive at the House approximately 11.15.  The group cost to view the house is £19.00  for those who are not National Trust Members.

We will leave Tyntesfield at 4 pm and expect to be back in Wimborne by 7pm. If the weather is poor we can adjust the return time to suit our needs.

The cost for the bus £15.00.

We do welcome non- Compass bookings as we have a large coach and it is always good to feel it was well used.

If you would like to book please fill in the form and send it and the cheque/ money to
Chris Field, Farthings, Church Lane, Bloxworth. If you prefer to pay BACs - Account JJ & AC Field
Sort code 20-00-85, account number 00370878. Please reference Tyntesfield. I still need the booking form if you pay by BACs .

These trips are always great fun and the House and grounds are really very well worth visiting. It does entail quite a lot of walking and there are steep areas to negotiate.

PLEASE BOOK BY 16 OCTOBER (if we haven’t taken enough bookings by 16 October then the trip will be cancelled and payments returned).

Planning your Visit

Welcome from the VicarRevd. Peter Breckwoldt

Let me welcome you to St John’s! I am so delighted you have found our web site. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

I do hope I will have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Revd. Peter Breckwoldt
