Ride and Stride - Saturday 13th September

Join us with friends and family for this year's cycle ride, with pauses on the way to visit some of our beautiful churches in Dorset. We will stop for a bring-your-own-picnic at Spetisbury’s old station on the former railway line, continuing along this and other safe roads and tracks. The history is amazing, the countryside even more so, the fellowship is great, and the cycling is good exercise without being too onerous!

In addition to the usual 2 rides of c10 & 30 miles, we are looking at a shorter ride for parents with young children, or others preferring this distance. Some regularly walk rather than cycle, and we are encouraged to use whatever means we prefer. There are already a couple of folk planning a walk around the Spetisbury area if anyone would like to join them - distance & details TBA. We will all meet together for lunch as above.

Please register your interest with Keith, at, kes.loveless[@]gmail.com (remove the brackets), or call him evenings on 07768 197095.

We have a Just Giving page if you would like to sponsor the event, or please share on your own social media account: https://www.justgiving.com/page/wimbornestjohnsbikerswm23

Seeking volunteers to man St Johns for an hour on the day between 10am till 2pm to welcome visitors with a drink of juice / water & possibly a snack, served from the Youth Lounge. Thank you to Phil Jones for volunteering, it would be great to have a second helper, please.

St John's has benefited from several significant grants and other direct income as a result of joining in the annual Ride & Stride cycle ride. Last year we received around £5,000 for projects! It is a national event with Dorset having its own mini edition, but raising around £100,000 in the county for urgent repair work and key improvement grants to our historic churches.

Planning your Visit

Welcome from the VicarRevd. Peter Breckwoldt

Let me welcome you to St John’s! I am so delighted you have found our web site. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

I do hope I will have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Revd. Peter Breckwoldt
