During this lockdown period at the 10.30am service, although we cannot currently run children’s groups, families who attend in person can join together in the Hall for an informal child-friendly service. Get in touch with Matt Lee if you’d like to be involved. For those children and young people watching at home Chris Adams (youth) and Kev Metcalfe (children) can provide details of Zoom meetings, Captain’s Cave and other activities.
Sunday Children’s Groups are available at our 11am service each week (except at our occasional All Age services). Children stay in the church for the first 15 minutes of the service which is designed to be All Age. They then go out to their groups and are picked up after the service has finished. Each child will need to have a registration form completed to attend a group and all our leaders are DBS checked according to our church Child Protection policy (click here if you want to see the policy).
A Crèche is also available at the 11am service. It’s a great safe space filled with toys, books and snacks for little children. The group is for children under the age of 3 and is in the Small Lounge just off the Foyer. Parents can feel free stay in and follow the service through the live feed displayed in the room, or leave their child with our Crèche leaders if that’s okay for the child (we ask you to please complete a registration form).
Scramblers is for children aged 3 years old up to school Reception year. The group meets in one if the classrooms in St John’s First School which is accessed by going out via the Atrium. It offers a structured program of play, stories, games, crafts, songs and prayer. Each week the children explore a different Bible story or character. Snacks and refreshments are also provided during Scramblers (please make us aware of medical conditions and allergies through completing a registration form).
Adventurers is a fun filled 11am group for children in Years 1 to Year 5 to make friends and learn about God. With games, snacks, crafts, stories, videos, drama and more, children look at the stories in the Bible and learn what they mean for them. The group meets in the Church Hall and there are sometimes snacks as part of the session.

Tots and Toys is back on Zoom. We’ll be having more songs, stories, crafts and fun on Zoom week by week while we wait for the opportunity to meet together face to face safely. It starts at 10.00am each week, so contact Kevin at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the details of how to be part of it.
Normally… We are blessed to be able to offer two toddler groups on a weekly basis. Both groups are great spaces for parents / carers to bring children for play and to meet others. They begin with a time of free play with all the equipment and toys and includes a craft, then we have a snack and drink for kids and adults, after a bit more free play we tidy up and have a song time. Sessions are 50p per family and we ask that you complete a registration form at your first visit.
Mondays in term-time 10-11.30am at St John’s Church Centre – this can be a busy session, but do come along and join in.
Tuesdays in term-time 10-11.30am at Leigh Park Community Centre – this is a drop in session. https://www.leighparkcommunitycentre.org.uk/

The Godly Play Room is a unique space we have in our church. The room is located upstairs (also known as the Upper Room) and is based around the model of Godly Play which is an international movement (www.godlyplay.uk). Its main use is with children from St John’s First School but is also utilised in many different ways across the life of the church.
Open the Book (https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/get-involved/open-the-book)
We partner if offering Open the Book with Wimborne Minster to Wimborne First School. Once a fortnight we deliver an assembly by acting out a story from the Bible and help children think about what it means for them.
