Coming on Sunday

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday. To watch our services online, visit our YouTube channel.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Services starting at 10:30am and 6:30pm.  Parking is available in the school playground, accessible from Legg Lane. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome badge.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets on the left when you come in.

Our Service

Holy Communion is included in the service every first Sunday morning and every third Sunday evening (as well as every fourth Thursday at 10.30am).

Our services begin with a warm welcome from one of our leaders, who will share any news and notices about what's going on in the life of the church. We then have a mix of songs, prayers and readings from the Bible. You're welcome just to listen, or to join in with the songs - all the words you need are on the screen. One of our leaders will give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life.

We serve tea, coffee, squash and biscuits after the service. It is a great way to meet people. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0-3 years) - in the small lounge
  • Scramblers (3-5 years) - in the classroom
  • Adventurers (5-9 years) - in the hall
  • CORE (9-13 years) - in the youth lounge
  • FUSE (13-18 years) - stay in the service, but also meet on Fridays.

The first 15 minutes of our morning service is accessible for all ages and so children stay with their parent or grown-up. We really value being all together as a family. After this, the service leader will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy. You are welcome to stay with your children in their group to help them settle or to leave them and return to the main gathering. Click to find more details about our Young Disciples work.

Planning your Visit

Welcome from the VicarRevd. Peter Breckwoldt

Let me welcome you to St John’s! I am so delighted you have found our web site. We are a Church family in Wimborne for anyone living, working or studying around this area. Whoever you are, whatever your age, whether you’re an experienced Christian or not, we would love you to join us.

From an intrigued onlooker to the committed follower we are keen that everyone should grow in relationship with God through knowing Jesus. To help us do that our emphasis is on hearing God speak to us by his Holy Spirit through his word, the Bible. Each of us knows that we only grow in a relationship with someone and get to know them when we spend time listening to them and responding and reacting to what they say. So the focus of St John’s is on listening to God’s word, talking to him in prayer and taking up all that he says.

The Church family here at St John’s longs to help anyone who wants to investigate the life of Jesus. On this site you will find people, meetings, talks and events shaped to help you take another step forward in finding out more about God and his love for us in Jesus, and to help you get linked into the church family life.

I do hope I will have the opportunity to meet you personally in the very near future and that you will quickly feel at home at St John’s.

Revd. Peter Breckwoldt
