Marriage is a gift from God in which a man and a woman come together to begin a new family. If you are considering marriage, we would like to encourage you to marry in church.
St John’s is an Anglican Church (belonging to the Church of England) and is therefore licensed for weddings. If you are resident in the St John’s parish and/or are regular worshippers at St John’s, then you are automatically eligible to apply to be married here. However, even if you are not a resident and do not attend St John’s, then you may still be able to apply.

If you are getting married at another church and you live in St John’s parish, you are required by law to arrange for your Banns of Marriage to be read at St John’s. We are happy to arrange suitable dates for these to be read (on three consecutive Sundays, usually at our 11.00am service). Please contact the Church Office and we will send you an application form and request the necessary payment, or download an application form here.
